Haiku is a minimalist form of poetry. Amarjit Sathi.Parminder sodhi who lives in Japan introduced HAIKU poetry in Punjabi. Haiku was born in japan in fifteenth or sixteenth century.Basho Matsuo[1644-1694] is considered the first origional HAIKU writer.Japani haiku has three lines .They have also written one line haiku. In japan haiku is traditionally 5,7,5, sound syllables. All languages cannot duplicate this method of counting syllables.Foreign language writers have to decide on their own if they want to follow rules. Most of the writers in French,English,Russian,Spanish,Hindi & Punjabi are not following those rules. In Haiku we use all those images we see in daily life.Nature is big part of it.Daily routine things can be depicted in haiku poetry.Humour & philosphy can be part of it in simple language.Using metaphers & simlies from daily life & depicting images of nature in meaningful way.
