| Details: Gurcharan Rampuri was born at Rampur (Panjab) India in January 23,1929. He started writing poetry in 1944. First volume of his poems was published in 1953 which reached Moscow Library and 12 poems from it were translated in Russian to be included in an anthology published by Skate Publishing house of Artistic Literarture Moscow in 1957. He was the youngest of 5 living Panjabi poets included. The ages of the poets included ranged from 85 to 28 years. He earned his B.A. degree from Panjab University Chandigarh, India. He has published 8 volumes of his poems. His poems have also been translated in English and Hindi. He is planning to publish his selected poetry in English soon. He immigrated to Canada in 1964 and earned his living working as a municipal clerk, cloth-merchant, journalist and electrical draftsman. He founded a Writers Association at Ranpur in 1953 and several writers organisations in Canada. He is active in Panjabi Writers Forum Vancouver and TWUC.
